There are so many updates to iPhone apps, and sometimes the changes don’t improve the app. I am wondering if it’s possible to keep installed, say v1 and v2 of the facebook app, both accessible by seperate home page icons.

No, an iPhone can only keep one version of each app.

No. Apple doesn’t let the iphone software operate that way
